Turkey. A new technological idea "Radar Surveillance System for the Coastal Zone" (SGRS) and a possible economic benefit. An essay.

Earlier, we wrote about effective Turkish drones: about their invention, about their serial production, about competent operation, about their successful sales in foreign markets.

A new technological idea is being implemented in Turkey.

"The Coastal Surveillance Radar System (SGRS) has been developed by HAVELSAN ... to provide situational awareness with radar coverage in coastal and territorial waters ... and in free economic regions ...". [unofficial translation] (https://havelsan.com.tr/ru/resheniya/oborona/zemlya/sistemy-nablyudeniya/havelsan-sgrs)

The part of the work for the implementation of this idea has already been completed: "Turkey seeks to make every inch of the Blue Motherland (Mavi Vatan) visible. ... 13 out of 35 optoelectronic towers, which were planned to be built within the framework of the project, have been installed. The number of identification centers and main operating centers, which was planned as 11, has reached 4. "[unofficial translation] (https://www.yenisafak.com/gundem/her-sey-mavi-vatan-icin-3706208)

In general formulation, the economic significance of this idea is the transformation of Turkey into a regional transport and energy corridor.

However, this is the most general view of the situation, which does not take into account the main mistakes in Russia's foreign policy, mistakes, that Turkey can use to own advantage.

Already in the thirties of the 20th century, the USSR took a course to break with the principles of the foreign policy of Lenin-Karakhan. With the support of the Western powers, in the conditions of a short foreign policy period favorable for the USSR, the Montreux Convention (1936) was signed, which took into account the lessons of the Russian-Turkish war (1877-1878) and of the Berlin Congress (1878).

In the process of implementing the "Tehran-Yalta-Potsdam" foreign policy system, the Soviet leadership decided to deliberately aggravate relations with Yugoslavia of Josip Broz Tito in order to avoid the excessive foreign policy activity in the Balkans and to not create risks for the Montreux Convention.

(Josip Broz Tito felt himself confident in the mid-20th century, he helped the Algerian partisans, more than 1 (one) million Frenchmen were forced to evacuate from Algeria to France. New times have come: some descendants of those who helped the Algerian partisans, now sometimes do not feel themselves very comfortable ...).

A contemporary Russial diplomacy has very complicated relations with the Western powers, which makes it unlikely that joint efforts to prepare and to sign an international treaty similar to the Montreux Convention are possible.

At the same time, the construction of the Istanbul Canal between the Marmara and the Black Seas, which has begun by Turkey, casts doubt on the Montreux Convention.

Given the emerging legal uncertainty, Turkey may change in own favor the economic conditions of maritime traffic through the Straits.

Turkey will be the main beneficiary in this situation.

Russia may find itself in the usual (for the 21st century) role of the Turkey's financial sponsor.

In addition to the more profitable use of sea traffic through the Straits, SGRS contributes to Turkey's desire to develop controversial (and non-controversial) areas of the seabed - to obtain hydrocarbons and other natural resources.

Thus, SGRS can be a very profitable economic enterprise (for Turkey).

To some extent, the creation of SGRS can to contribute to the improvement of the technical culture of the Turkish population and to the possible appearance of new tens of millions of new high-tech jobs in Turkey.

(With the possible increased income from maritime traffic through the Straits, the emergence in Turkey of a modern pension system with a retirement age of 55 for women and 60 for men cannot be ruled out).
