The Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city court on Tuesday announced till May 31 the recess in consideration [a break in hearings] of the case on the claim of the Sakhalin zooprotective organizations "Ecological Watchkeeping of Sakhalin", "Friends of the Ocean", "Boomerang" demanding to set free killer whales and white whales from the Srednyaya (Srednya) bay in Primorsky Krai, the correspondent of TASS from the courtroom tells.
"The court announces, taking into account opinion of participants of process, the recess in court session [a break in hearings] till May 31, 14:15 local time (06:15 Moscow time)", - the judge Natalia Perchenko announced. Such decision is connected with need of defendants [participants of process] to be prepared for a debate of the parties.
It is planned that the research court of case papers will continue (the court will continue to study the case materials) on May 31, and then participants of process will pass (will move) to a debate. It is assumed that they will be completed on the same day, after which the court will be removed for a decision (the court will be removed for decision-making).

Russian President Vladimir Putin on February 22 instructed the Ministry of natural resources and the Ministry of agriculture together with scientific organizations to decide destiny of these animals. The control Department of the presidential administration took the issue of the release of killer whales and Beluga whales in Primorye for special control. In the middle of May the authorities of Primorye said that the animals can be released within two months (can be set free within two months).

On May 23 the Yuzhno-Sakhalinsk city court began consideration of the claim of the Sakhalin zooprotective organizations to Rosrybolovstvo, the Ministry of Agriculture of the Russian Federation and Rosprirodnadzor about release of killer whales and white whales from the Srednyaya (Srednya) bay. The case involves interested parties - the company-catchers LLC "White whale", LLC "Afalina", LLC "Oceanarium DV" and LLC "Sochi Dolphinarium". The Border management of the FSB of the Russian Federation in Primorsky Krai - participant of process.
Claimants (plaintiffs) demand to recognize inaction of Rosprirodnadzor as illegal and to oblige him to withdraw gratuitously animals from commercial companies and to let out them to the native habitat. Also they ask to recognize as illegal a number of orders of the Ministry of Agriculture and Rosrybolovstvo on the statement of admissible volume of catch of killer whales and white whales in 2018, distribution of quotas for their catch and the approval of plans of fishery in the cultural and educational purposes.
