The dovewing Fluffy likes an oasis of culture. A story.
Pigeons periodically appear in different layers of world culture.
In the work of the famous artist, we meet the well-known drawing of a dove.
The story of one of the first flights in a balloon to the North Pole suddenly gives an episode of an attempt to keep the connection of balloonists with the mainland through carrier pigeons.
In Rostov-on-Don, a photograph of Vitya Cherevichkin is periodically distributed, who, according to the main version, was shot [killed] along with a dove during the 2nd World War.
It is believed that Vitya is a local hero, even a modern (Rostov) martyr. He is shown in the photograph after the execution. He does not have a weapon in his hands, but a dove.
Vitya Cherevichkin, probably, symbolizes the love of Rostovites for pigeons.
Where did the pigeons come from in the city of Rostov-on-Don?
You can recall the history of breeding pigeons. Surely this practice goes back to the distant past.
But you can approach this topic from the other side.
After the huge social changes in the Don Land, the masses of the rural population were forced to move to the city. Here, a huge Rostselmash plant was waiting for them with the opportunity to work in a variety of workshops - to work without the opportunity to see nature, plants, animals.
The plant was allocating for its workers plots of land and a certain amount of building materials (for a fee). People made efforts, built private houses and lived not in city apartments, but in their own houses with small yards, in the middle of beds with vegetables or flowers.
Among the huge number of employees of Rostselmash and members of their families, there were those who struggled to get away from official life, from official jabber and crackle, from the official algorithms of existence.
Some, at every opportunity, took a fishing rod and went to the nearest body of water, where they sat alone and in silence, looking at the float. Sometimes they managed to catch a fish, and this served as a justification, protection from reproach in a kind of "idleness" - it allowed to avoid the general fuss and digging potatoes (along with the obligatory conversations on standard topics).
Others were breeding pigeons. Pigeons replaced those animals that the villager constantly encounters.
Moreover, watching flying pigeons gave a complex, difficult to convey set of impressions and emotions. The flight of birds, a space without borders, a blue sky ... It was called "to drive, to chase of(f) pigeons." [to "organize", to facilitate the flight of pigeons by waving arms or any other object, and to observe them]
Birds, a flock of birds, a cloud of white doves are circling in the sky (at an altitude of 50 - 100 meters), and a person on the ground, on his land plot, admires their flight. At the same time, both doves and the human see each other, they are in a mental relationship, in emotional resonance. Circular movements, the swinging [wavings] of a person (of [with] his hands, or [with] a pole with a bright cloth tied at the upper end) and the circling of birds in the sky are in a certain connection.
Naturally, this too - from the generally accepted point of view - was "idleness", but tolerable idleness. This occupation distracted from alcohol, it gave rise even to grumpy (or practical) relatives and neighbors some kind of unconscious respect (and tolerance).
The most fortunate people in this category managed to escape the state label "parasite", to evade the attacks and reproaches of practical relatives, to flee (to hide off) a work in the shops at the Rostselmash plant in the name of great socialist goals, and spend their whole lives on a small plot of land, - being in contact with birds , with the sky, with a boundless expanse ...
Gradually, the generation associated with physical agricultural labor went into the past. Gadgets, cars, motorcycles, as well as all sorts of bad hobbies came to the fore.
Added to this were difficulties - with the Rostselmash plant.
In general, a whole social layer was leaving in the past. Interest in breeding pigeons and watching them fly was gradually fading away.
Nevertheless, no one destroyed the pigeons, they were looking for a place for themselves either in abandoned attics, or at tolerant people, or even in some relatively wild places.
Among these pigeons was a dovewing named Fluffy.
One day Fluffy discovered that neighboring birds fly in the same (similar) direction in the afternoon.
She became interested and flew to check where the surrounding birds were flying.
It turned out that metal saucers with fresh water appeared on the veranda of one of the houses (in a place inaccessible to cats).
At first, this caused a concern. Rarely, but there are also such people who catch pigeons and cook soup from them. So you need to be careful.
But gradually the fears disappeared.
Metal bowls of water were very handy - especially in hot weather. The reservoirs were far away, and visiting them was a long and risky business.
The constant renewal of water in the bowls was very convenient for the birds.
It was nice to drink fresh cold water in the hot summer.
Even if the bowls fell down from the veranda, they returned to their place and were filled with water again.
Gradually Fluffy discovered that the main thing is not water.
The main thing is the respect for the birds.
Yes, people who bred pigeons are gone, but there are people who respect birds!
On the hottest days, a local bird community gathered next to the bowls on neighboring trees. Everyone drank water, some tried to bathe in these bowls.
The dovewing Fluffy was walking with pleasure along the veranda, looking at other birds who were drinking water or were trying to bathe.
Still, there are cultured people! They respect birds - that's what's nice!
A kind of bird club made it possible to exchange news and follow the changes taking place in the local bird world.
The club is also a pleasant phenomenon. All those present are peaceful and friendly. They are communicating without stress. A spending of the time, a communicating, a getting of a good mood.
Fluffy, having spent a pleasant time on the veranda (and next to it), flew to the place of permanent residence.
There is an oasis of culture in this world, and it's nice to visit it and to spend time in it!
