An energetic girl. The story out of my memory.
At that time, I lived in the city center, where retail outlets were situated (and now are situated) with a huge density.
A pretty salesgirl worked in one of the stores (it seems she, additionally, studied at some institute), who was directing her pleasant gaze at customers.
Why not me to get acquainted a nice girl?
Two or three short conversations over (across) the counter. A small gift (a box of chocolate candies?) from my side. And we meet after her work day.
How to spend our time? There are options.
A pleasant girl discovers extraordinary perseverance: after a working day that she spent on her feet (she is working as a saleswoman), she wants to walk around the evening (night) city.
The evening is cold and damp. There are traces of rain on the streets.
I tried to suggest options, but I met with the unyielding persistence on her part.
According to the sum of the circumstances, it was impossible to avoid agreeing with this adamantly expressed intention. The girl after the working day (at the store) did not go home or to the institute, but agreed to hold a meeting with me. To say, "Okay, bye," - it would not be polite on my part.
As it turned out, this was not a short walk to the cafe or to the apartment. This was a walk carried out at an inappropriate time and along an inappropriate (random) route.
The whole event lasted an hour and a half (or two hours). Many blocks were covered. We began to walk almost in circles around the city center, along different streets.
I couldn't help wondering: what is the idea of this event? If people want to get to know each other (have a good time), then a walking around a damp night city is not the most suitable option.
At some point, we came to the door of a store or of a cafe. People came in and out. The townspeople (perhaps tired), busy talking, did not pay much attention to others in the twilight of the evening.
Before us, a small group walked in the door, focused on some kind of conversation among themselves. They behaved absolutely calmly. They were looking not at the people around them, but - at each other.
One of the participants of this company decided to clear his throat and, before entering, he spat on the asphalt. His spit accidentally planned - not on the asphalt, but on the package that I was holding in my hand (perhaps I made some purchases hoping to have a pleasant evening, or maybe I was holding this package in my hand for another reason). There was no malice, no animosity, aggression or hostility in this action. It was a pure random event. The company disappeared behind the door: an attempt (on my part) to catch up, to ask something, to find out something would be absolutely inappropriate, it would be a just strange step.
A disappointing summary of a long night walk!
But at last, the (endless) night walk imperceptibly came to finish, to my joy.
I made no attempts to continue the acquaintance. An energetic human (ready for long night walks after a work shift spent on her feet), a human with non-standard thinking (choosing walks through a cold, damp city at night from all possible options for communicating with a representative of the opposite sex) was clearly intended for great achievements, and not for acquaintances with buyers.
