A jumper, a ring, a travel guide to Istanbul. A New Year's story.
A few weeks before the New Year, Pavel Pavlovich went shopping to a large shopping complex.
The clothing department sold clothes for both men and women.
Pavel Pavlovich noticed a women's yellow jumper at a very reasonable price.
Everyone has their weaknesses.
For example, Pavel Pavlovich liked yellow and orange things. Or, another example, he didn't like sad, gloomy faces.
One day he went into a grocery store next to his house and found that the saleswomen in it had faces that were not very jolly, not very smiling. And one of them had despair on her face, and she was staring at her smartphone permanently.
It was unpleasant. Pavel Pavlovich solved the problem by the purchasing several candies and handing them to the store's employees. They started to smile.
For some time, during entering this store, Pavel Pavlovich began his visit with the question: "Will we smile?!". The employees started to smile. Then he handed the several candies over.
But after one incident Pavel Pavlovich stopped asking this question. In a shoe store, he was given a metal souvenir in connection with some kind of trade promotion. Pavel Pavlovich put this souvenir in his pocket. And on the same day, he went into a grocery store. One of the employees, Sabine, walked with a frozen face between the shelves. Pavel Pavlovich recalled of the souvenir and presented it to this employee.
It turned out that it was her birthday that day.
It's strange, of course, to walk around with a frozen face on the birthday. But you can't to glance into the someone else's soul and you can't to understand the someone else's personal life.
After receiving the souvenir, the saleswoman Sabina smiled. Pavel Pavlovich, upon learning about her (Sabina's) birthday, innocently said: "It needs to be celebrated!"
"We'll celebrate it here, in the store," the saleswoman replied.
Pavel Pavlovich did not understand how it was possible to celebrate birthday between the shelves, and he naively explained:
- We can go get a coffee.
- Today is my working day. As well as tomorrow is my working day, too, - the store employee replied mysteriously.
Pavel Pavlovich did not insist. When, the next time, he saw this saleswoman, he, as a polite person, asked a question:
- When are we going to have coffee?
Suddenly, the saleswoman's face turned an aggressive shade, an emotion of disgust appeared on it, and she almost screamed:
- Never!
Well, if never, then never. Pavel Pavlovich tried to avoid this saleswoman, not to deal with her.
But there were other women working in the store. They worked in shifts: one, then the other.
Pavel Pavlovich noticed after this incident that they kept the tradition of smiles - at his appearance. But in those smiles, after Sabine's cry of "Never!", a new, ironic expression appeared.
So he stopped asking the question: "Will we smile?!" When he visited the store, he gave two or three candies without any questions.
In a large shopping complex, Pavel Pavlovich chose the necessary things and headed up to the cash register. But then he came back and took a yellow women's jumper. In the total amount of purchases, the price of the jumper was a small percentage.
Even if you do not take into account the fables by Ivan Krylov, you can notice in yourself a tendency to perceive some positive statements.
If you come to the hairdresser and the hairdresser compliments your appearance, and next to another hairdresser intimidates his client, then which hairdresser will you choose? Probably of the one, who says something nice about your appearance, and not of the one, who is threatening the client with the unpleasant consequences in case of a rare visits to the hairdresser.
So in the grocery store (where he gave candies to see the employees smile), Pavel Pavlovich noted one of the employees, Vera, - she said something positive a couple of times.
He handed her (Vera) a yellow jumper in an opaque package, congratulating her on the upcoming New Year and warning her that if she don't like this thing, then she can safely throw it away - without any thought.
A couple of days later Pavel Pavlovich went shopping. Vera was absent. But in the eyes of the other saleswomen, he caught an increased interest to himself, and even a something mysterious.
Meanwhile, the New Year was getting closer and closer.
One day Pavel Pavlovich saw a travel guide to Istanbul in a bookstore.
He opened this guidebook. There are many interesting places! Beautiful photos! Pavel Pavlovich bought a guidebook and put it in his bag.
At that time, one of the women, an acquaintance of Vera, met Vera's ex-husband on the street.
This man and Vera lived together for some time, then divorced and have been divorced for a long time.
The man now lives with a woman named Anya. She is working as a cleaner, or as a janitor.
Yesterday Vera's ex-husband quarreled with Anya, and today he found out that Vera is successful. She heard a congratulations with a New Year Holiday. She received a gift - a yellow jumper.
It turns out that Vera, his ex-wife, is very successful. And he, the ex-husband, was left out, outboard.
The ex-husband immediately made efforts, borrowed enough money to purchase the ring (Anya will not know about such loans), and presented the ring to his ex-wife Vera.
The ring is obviously superior to the yellow jumper!
Pavel Pavlovich (with a book, a travel guide to Istanbul) was on his way home.
On the way, he entered at a grocery store where he, as a rule, gave candies to saleswomen (to see a smiles).
After choosing what he needed, he approached the cash register where Vera was sitting.
- How many employees do you have today? - he asked, planning to count out several candies.
- Three, - Vera replied. - The fourth one is going home.
The fourth employee has not yet completed her conversation with Vera. So Vera spoke, simultaneously, with Pavel Pavlovich and with the fourth employee. And Pavel Pavlovich counted out a four candies.
At the same time, he began to take out a travel guide from his bag.
- If I will give (as a gift) you a book, will you to mind? - He asked Vera.
Vera glanced at the book. Probably, a book was "worse" both the yellow jumper and the ring.
- I kicked all the books out of my home! - She said jokingly. - I don't have time to read!
Turning her gaze to the fourth employee, who was about to leave for home, she continued the conversation with her:
- He gave me a ring! After all, we lived together for several years! That's why he came and gave me a ring!
- Well, then, we'll have to make do with candies, - Pavel Pavlovich said, putting the guidebook back in his bag. He handed Vera four candies ("We will go have tea now!" - she reported), said: "Happy New Year!", and he left the store.
It was a fog outside. But the atmosphere was New Year's Eve.
There are two days left until the New Year.
People are smiling. Families are reunited. The future will be better than the past.
